Was it Love? Or Was it Paris? A Novel

She was in love with Paris, but would a year in the City of Light bring her romance, too?

When Jacquie, an American Exchange student, arrives in Paris to spend her junior year abroad, she is intrigued by handsome Georges-Henri whose sister Hélène is Jacquie’s host.

The year is 1950. France is still reeling from the horrors of the Second World War.

Meanwhile Jacquie’s friend and roommate, Claudine, has her own set of adjustments to make. Their living arrangement in the apartment on Avenue Mozart in the Sixteenth Arrondissement is disappointing. There’s no central heating and only a single bathroom that the girls will have to share with six other people. Worse, they were promised a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Instead, what did they get? A room looking into a courtyard. And the room with the view is forbidden to them.

None of this concerns Jacquie. She is in Paris, the most romantic city in the world. As the year progresses, she grows closer to Georges-Henri. But all the feelings she has for him are threatened when she finds out he has a secret.
